The harmonious combination of fine hair with the finest satin fabrics, refined with silk, balances the natural advantages of these materials to create supple, soft and very comfortable duvets.
The cashmere goat lives at altitudes of up to 6,000 m above sea level and is exposed to extremely low temperatures. It is small and graceful, reaching a height of 70 to 90 cm and a body weight of 40 to 60 kg. On average, each animal produces approximately 1 to 1.5 kg of raw wool. Of this, approximately 400 to 800 g is the undercoat. After washing and sorting, no more than 100 to 200 g of this remains per animal per year as the net hair yield of a cashmere goat. Thus, from the estimated 40 million goats, approximately 4,000 to 5,000 tons of crude fiber are obtained, or just under 2,500 tons of net hair yield.
This, along with the fact that cashmere is the lightest, finest, rarest, and thus most valuable and noble hair used as a raw material for textiles, justifies the comparatively high price. The hair has a silky sheen, is extremely soft and supple, and has a very high heat retention capacity. Its moisture absorption capacity is approximately 25 to 30% of its own weight.
